Ceramic
works have several stages to follow: forming, drying, 1st firing, glazing,
2nd firing, and so on. Usually, the output of 1st firing and 2nd firing
is the same except for the hardness and size of the ceramic. However,
my work does not follow this convention. The first firing consisted
of 100 plates of clay, whereas the second firing produced the single
piece that you see here. I wanted to express the power of nature while
I was facing the clay. Thus, I first made lots of thin plates and left
them to the power of the fire. |
